How do I know which size chair to choose?

Many of the chairs we stock come in multiple sizes. For example, Herman Miller Aeron comes in A (Small), B (Medium), and C (Large). Steelcase Leap and Gesture come in Standard and Large. Size B or Standard suits most people between 157–185cm. Each product listing includes the specific size and a dimensions table so you can check the fit before buying. If you are unsure reach out and we will help you find the right match.

Can I try a chair before buying?

Contact us if you would like to inspect or try a chair before buying and we will arrange a suitable time depending on the location of the chair. If that is not possible we can also share more detailed photos and videos so you can make a confident decision.

Can you source a specific chair I am looking for?

We do our best to accommodate requests. If you are looking for a specific model, size, or colour, contact us and we will let you know if we can source it. We regularly receive new stock so it is worth checking back regularly.

Can I buy multiple chairs for a whole office?

Absolutely. We regularly supply chairs for whole teams and office fitouts. Contact us directly for bulk pricing — we can often source matching sets if you need a consistent look across a floor.

Are prices GST inclusive?

All prices on our website are GST inclusive. Your tax invoice will show the GST component separately.

Condition & Quality
What do the condition grades mean?

We grade every chair honestly across three tiers:

Like New — Used for less than 12 months. No visible wear. Functionally perfect.

Good — Normal office use. Minor cosmetic marks that do not affect function or comfort. Our most common grade.

Fair — Visible wear consistent with age. Fully functional. Priced accordingly.

We never overstate condition. If there is something worth knowing about a specific chair it is in the listing.

Are all chairs tested before listing?

Every chair is assessed by our partners before it is listed. They check the mechanism, gas lift, armrests, base, castors, upholstery and all adjustment functions. Anything that does not pass is either repaired or parted out.

Do you use genuine replacement parts?

Always. We only use genuine manufacturer parts for any replacements - no aftermarket substitutes. This ensures the chair performs as designed and maintains its original warranty eligibility where applicable.

How long has a chair typically been used?

Most chairs we source come from corporate offices at the end of a lease or office refresh - typically 1–3 years of use. Some are even shorter. Each listing notes the condition grade and any relevant history where we have it.

Delivery & Shipping
How much does delivery cost?

Delivery costs are calculated at checkout based on your location and the size of the item. You will see the exact delivery cost before you complete your purchase.

What delivery options do you offer?

We offer standard delivery Australia-wide. Delivery is typically within 14 business days of your order being placed. Some metro areas may be faster. You will receive tracking information once your order has been dispatched.

Can I collect in person?

Collection is available on some items. Once you add your items to your cart and proceed to checkout, items with local pick up available will show this as an option. This is a great way to inspect the chair before taking it home.

How are chairs packaged for delivery?

Chairs are usually delivered fully assembled and wrapped in protective padding to ensure they arrive safely. If your chair arrives damaged contact us immediately with photos and we will arrange a replacement or resolution.

Returns & Warranty
What does the 12-month warranty cover?

Our warranty covers all mechanical components — gas lift, tilt mechanism, armrest adjustment, lumbar support and base integrity. If anything fails under normal use within 12 months we will repair or replace it. The warranty does not cover cosmetic wear, damage from misuse, or issues caused by modifications.

Can I return a chair if I change my mind?

Yes - we offer a 14-day change of mind return policy. The chair must be returned in the same condition it was delivered. Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the buyer unless the chair was misrepresented in the listing.

What if my chair arrives damaged?

Contact us within 48 hours of delivery with photos of the damage. We will arrange a replacement, repair, or full refund - whichever you prefer. We take full responsibility for transit damage.

How do I make a warranty or return claim?

Contact us at hello@thegoodchairs.com.au with your order number and details of the issue. We aim to respond within one business day and will guide you through the process.

About Our Chairs
Where do your chairs come from?

All chairs are sourced directly from corporate offices, building managers, fitout companies or professional resellers across Australia. They are retired at the end of a corporate lease or office refresh - not because they are worn out, but because the business is moving on.

Why are the prices so much lower than retail?

Because they are pre-loved. These chairs have been used - typically for 1–3 years in a corporate setting. The price reflects that, not the quality. The engineering, materials, and ergonomic performance are the same as a new chair.

How long will a pre-loved chair last?

Herman Miller and Steelcase chairs are designed for 10–20 year lifespans under heavy commercial use. A chair that has been used for 2–3 years in a corporate office has a long life ahead of it. With normal home or office use you should expect many years of service.

Do the chairs come with their original accessories?

Where possible yes — headrests, lumbar pads, and other accessories are included if they were part of the original chair. This is noted in each product listing. If an accessory is missing it will be clearly stated.
