Low-back Eames Soft Pad Management Chair, designed by Charles and Ray Eames and first introduced in 1969. This is a 1995 production by Herman Miller / Vitra. Polished cast aluminium frame on a five-star base with castors, upholstered in green leather with the signature quilted cushions that give the Soft Pad its name. Approximately 30 years of age. The green leather shows an honest patina with creasing and softening typical of well-aged full-grain hide. The aluminium frame and base remain solid and fully functional.

The Eames Soft Pad — the Aluminum Group, made plush
Designed by Charles and Ray Eames in 1969, the Soft Pad Group took the celebrated Aluminum Group and softened it. The same elegant aluminium side ribs remain, but in place of the taut single panel sit individual cushioned 'soft pads' in leather or fabric — buttoned to the frame for a richer, more upholstered feel without losing the original's clean profile.
The result became the definitive executive chair of the modern era: refined enough for the boardroom, comfortable enough for a full working day. Decades on, the Soft Pad remains in production and instantly recognisable — a quiet statement of taste that has aged better than almost anything designed alongside it.
