The Aeron — engineering that changed everything
Introduced in 1994, the Herman Miller Aeron was the first chair to replace foam padding with a tensioned mesh surface — the 8Z Pellicle. This revolutionary approach eliminated the heat and pressure buildup that defined every chair before it, instead distributing weight evenly across the body's contact points.
The 2016 Remastered update refined everything: a stiffer, more responsive Pellicle, the PostureFit SL system that supports both the sacrum and lumbar simultaneously (rather than lumbar alone), updated armrests with improved range of motion, and a more adjustable tilt mechanism. The Aeron Remastered isn't a new chair — it's the perfection of an already perfect one.
